"Hold your horses, I'm coming," a voice came from within the door, which promptly swung open to reveal an unbarricaded infirmary. As per usual, compassion had won out over common sense for Doc. "Hey, you have all your arms and stuff! Awesome! Come on in." The infirmary was already fairly crowded, with inmates and personnel alike having taken shelter there. Some of them were wounded, many of them were frightened.
ooc: How do you feel about making this an open thread with all the other characters hiding in the infirmary?
Adam gave a nod, entering through the very open doorway that showed... absolutely no signs of a barricade. He raised an eyebrow, looking back at the door, then to McNinja. "Don't suppose you should at least try to keep the undead out? Prop a chair against the door handle?"
Padmé circulated amongst those gathered, easing naturally into the role of comforter, of the kind of bolsterer she'd been as both a young queen and a Galactic senator. That she felt the same kind of despair and naked fear here, in what was supposed to be a relatively safe place (if anywhere on base could actually be considered as such)... well, it chilled her blood. But someone had to stay calm. It was what she was conditioned to be.
She tilted her head in acknowledgment as she saw Adam enter the infirmary. Good. Someone else who appeared to have his wits about him. And armed as well.
Hawkeye managed to make it down to the clinic without being attacked. Sadly many of the guards went so lucky. One at least only had a bullet wounds and was currently leaning against the doctor for support. "Clear the way! Mcninja give me a hand here!"
Adam's frown twitches for a moment, but gives up his arguing efforts in favor of finding any sort of syringe needle that wasn't already holding a substance. He finds two, pocketing one for later use, and then plunging the second into his vein and drawing blood. Once that's done, he holds it up in front of McNinja between two fingers. "I'm hoping at least you've checked to make sure no one here has been bitten or infected or however this spreads."
The sight of blood didn't bother Padmé in and of itself. She'd seen anough of it, after all, particularly on Geonosis. But she had to fight back the reflexive panic she felt nevertheless - it reminded her far too easily of her ordeal on Halloween.
'There, there,' she mindlessly comforted another young woman she didn't recognize. She was distracted by Hawkeye dragging in a wounded guard.
With Mcninja's help Hawkeye managed to get the guard onto a table. Ordering the nurses he had one get some blood into the poor guy, while he scrubbed up. Quickly he began doing what he was best at. "Please tell me you have a miracle for the ones that weren't lucky enough to be shot?"
Sensing the guard's percarious condition, Death made his way to the Clinic. Walking through the wall he stepped over to the table. DOCTORS, I WILL BE ASSISTING YOU TODAY. I THINK BEING A BIT NEGLIGENT IN PERFORMING THE DUTY TODAY IS IN ORDER. ALSO DOCTOR PIERCE THERE IS A BULLET FRAGMENT ONE HALF INCH UP FROM WHERE YOU ARE CURRENTLY OPERATING. IT MUST BE REMOVED IF GUARD GUSTAVSEN IS TO LIVE. While Death truly did want to remove Jan Valentine personally, this would be a more helpful activity. After all he could be patient.
"Sweetness! Thanks Death! Y'know, you're way cooler than the guy from my world." Mcninja plucked the syringe from between Monroe's fingers. "So how's this super-blood stuff work? Do I just dump it into the guy or what?"
"It has to have contact with his own blood. Hence the syringe," Adam said, eying Death warily. Flaunting immortality in front of the most likely entity who could take it away didn't seem like too bright an idea, but Death seemed more intent on helping than harming. "The bullet will remove itself once he's injected."
"Okey-dokey then." Mcninja stood over Gustavsen as Hawkeye worked. "You think this stuff will be necessary, Hawkeye, or can you get the fragment the old-fashioned way?" He asked. "We should use these syringes as sparingly as possible; it's not like we can drain Monroe dry." He stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Or can we..."
Adam sends a glare in Mcninja's direction, regardless if the other saw it or not, and continued to re roll his sleeve upward. Taking out the second syringe, he draws more blood. Maybe he should put a limit on how many he'll give to Mcninja before the other decides to act out his idea.
Doc shrugged. "Maybe, but probably not," he said. "Have you seen these crazy new-flavour zombies we got coming at us? They can use guns, man. Not. Cool."
IT WAS ONE OF THE ZOMBIES THAT SHOT HIM. I AM SORRY I CANNOT DO MORE TO SLOW THE CHANGE INTO THESE CREATURES. Death turned to look over the rest of the clinic identifying those in the worst condition. EXCUSE ME DR.MCNINJA, BUT THAT GENTLEMAN OVER THERE HAS INTERNAL INJURIES. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU ATTEND TO HIM IMMEDIATELY.
