WHO: Rorschach (open)
WHERE: Brig
WHAT: He's loose!
Screams and gunfire sounded outside the brig. Jan had sent a few ghouls wandering away from himself and his own force to 'spread the love' as much as possible, and they were performing admirably. Of course, the prisoners knew none of this. Across from Rorschach's cell, Leoben prayed, lips moving silently. The lights flickered. Rorschach waited.
A guard slouched into the brig. Former guard, at least. One of its fellows had taken a chunk out of its shoulder about twenty minutes ago, and shortly after he'd stopped breathing, it had started walking. Its red eyes found Rorschach, identified him as food. The ghoul lunged forward, and bounced off the the clear shield keeping the vigilante confined. The creature groaned. Behind it, Leoben looked up from his prayer, concerned. Rorschach waited.
The ghoul still had its pistol, and remembered the intricacies of safety and trigger. Slowly, it raised it, and fired into the shield. Sparks flew as the shield cracked, the current flowing through it shorting out. The ghoul fired again, weakening the shield further, and again. Rorschach waited.
The fourth shot caused the shield to shatter completely, razor shards falling to the ground. With nothing between it and its meal, the ghoul lunged forward. It was a rotting corpse, and was slow. Rorschach was alive, and was not. Snatching up one of the sharper and larger shards, he drove it into the creature's face. It grunted and stumbled back. Rorschach plucked the baton from the guard's belt, flicked it open, and started flailing at the ghoul's skull. Several wet crunching sounds later, it was all over.
"Ennh." He stepped over the monster's body, to freedom. For a moment he considered Leoben in the other cell, then decided that whatever fresh evil was being visited on the base was more important. "Don't go anywhere," he told the Cylon. "I'll be back."
He put the baton in one of his coat pockets and walked out of the brig. Time to go back to work.
