The cursed Doctor was here. The Destroyer of Worlds! Well, this Dalek certainly wasn't going to let that stop him from exterminating all of the inferior life in this place. In fact, he would even exterminate the Doctor! Do what no other Dalek had managed to do yet. Yes

She had planned on going to the cafeteria to get a bite to eat. What she hadn't planned on, though, was encountering a Dalek in the hallway.

If his weapons weren't online, he wasn't much of a threat? Besides, Sarah Jane had faced much worse at the hands of the Thals than she did the Kaleds. So she stopped walking and looked at it, hands on hips and a small amused smile on her face.

"Oh, it's you, is it?"

The Dalek swiveled. A human! One who was relevant to the Destroyer of Worlds...this could be useful. He glided towards her, plunger extended.

"YOU ARE INFERIOR. YOU WILL SURRENDER."

It was indeed a Dalek, wasn't it? A rather defenseless Dalek that almost reminded Sarah Jane of the ones she had first scene. They had been in route to Florana, took a wrong turn, and wound up on a rather cold ice planet.

With Daleks.

Daleks that were rather useless in the cold. As useless as a Dalek without its weapons.

"I thought we went through this already. It's you lot that are the inferior race."

The Dalek continued forward, plunger ready. This human would be useful against the Doctor. Her words didn't matter at the moment.

"YOU WILL SURRENDER."

The Brigadier had just finished a rather spare breakfast of toast and eggs and was intent on returning to the relatively safe area of the base, when he caught the sound of electronic squawking around the next corner. He picked the pace up and was horrified to find Sarah Jane standing her ground against the Dalek.

He drew his pistol (futile though it might prove) and stepped forward, grabbing Sarah Jane by the arm.

"Miss Smith! What in God's name do you think you're doing?"

"He's useless," Sarah explained with a smile, turning her attention away from the Dalek for a moment. "No weapons, can't do a single thing. Davros didn't exactly build these creatures with an intellect, after all."

Fools! They underestimated the great Dalek race! He moved forward, preparing to grab onto Sarah Jane with his plunger. She would not escape the Daleks! NO ONE ESCAPED THE DALEKS!

"YOU WILL COME WITH ME, HU-MAN!"

Alistair shoved Sarah aside and leveled his pistol, firing. The pistol barked as he yelled a warning to Sarah Jane, "That damn plunger still works! Now RUN!"

If he had to, he would stay to ensure that she escaped.

Sarah Jane eyed the manipulator that looked far too much like a plunger to be taken seriously. While she took a few steps back, she didn't quite runaway as the Brigadier suggested. Instead, she stood behind him and eyed it.

"Honestly, you'd have better luck picking on someone else. There's absolutely no reason to take me with you."

The Dalek ignored the bullets, continuing to advance menacingly. Even if he couldn't get the girl, he would have the Brigadier! He reached out to latch onto the man.

"YOU WILL COME WITH ME. YOU ARE A PRISONER."

The Brigadier cursed and tried to stumble back, but his arm was caught. He tugged at it, emptying the remainder of his magazine at the Dalek's eye-stalk in an effort to blind or disable the creature.

"Dammit, woman! Get out of here!"

"I'm not leaving you," Sarah shouted back angrily.

Woman? How dare he.

Rather than hiding behind the Brigadier, she ran to the other side of the Dalek to give the plunger arm a good tug.

"Oi, let him go, will you?"

The Dalek continued to ignore the pitiful projectile weapon, beginning to reverse his course and pulling the brig along. The female was tugging on his manipulator arm. How annoying.

"YOU WILL RELEASE ME OR I WILL DESTROY HIM." The pressure from the plunger cup increased.

God damn it. What would the use of this be if Smith didn't get away? He bit back a hiss of pain as the pressure increased. He stumbled along after the Dalek.

"Miss Smith! Get the Doctor! It's no good if we're both prisoners!"

He began clumsily reloading the pistol with one hand.

One last card, then. Because nothing would make her fetch the Doctor. At all.

"Take me instead," Sarah told the Dalek, letting go. She put her hands up in the air. "I..."

She could do this.

"I mean more to the Doctor than he does. Besides, I was one of those responsible for nearly killing your precious Davros and your entire race long before you were ever created. Much better price, don't you think?"

The Dalek swiveled his eyestalk to examine the girl, released the Brigadier and latched onto Sarah Jane. She was more valuable, doubtless. Besides, even though he wouldn't admit it (Daleks have no emotions!) he would take pleasure in destroying her in front of the Doctor. He began to drag Sarah Jane down the corridor.

"DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RESCUE THE FEMALE OR SHE WILL BE EXTERM-I-NATED!"
