Adam peered around a corner, watching as a quite violent masked man proceeded to brutally beat a screaming die hard fan into a pulp. The Joker was right (since when did he listen to madmen?), this actually was amusing. He had been in the security room earlier, watching people run about in the senseless chaos, and oh did he miss seeing that kind of panic. But still, the grainy little televisions could only barely make out the expressions or faces people made, and that was rather disappointing, really. Then after watching fifteen minutes of this man in a trenchcoat senselessly punching some random victim, Adam decided maybe he should see it in person. Maybe clap a bit at the end. But for now, he remained silent.
The Dethklok roadie twitched a final time and went still, as oxygen deprivation took it ultimate toll. Rorschach watched impassively, then placed the handkerchief back in his pocket. Hadn't he heard a noise around the corner, towards the end?
He spoke without turning around. "Know you're there. Be wisest to show yourself now."
Ah well, he only got in for the very end. If only the other one put up a better fight than a sack of potatoes, then it would have been more interesting.
Adam stepped out from his not-safe-at-all defense of a wall, hands up so this man could see he wasn't armed at the moment. "Don't mind me. I'm not doing anything, just watching. Although, that did seem somewhat unfair, the man didn't have any sort of weapon..." What honor was there in fighting an unarmed opponent? Well, no, not honor. More like fun.
"Fairness irrelevant," Rorschach said. "Scum do not deserve such consideration." He turned to the man. "Look familiar. Was a warning post about you some time ago... hrm..." He searched his memory. "...Monroe. Why?"
…This guy may be someone Adam should most likely avoid angering. That is, when he did manage to piss someone off, it was usually an unconscious attempt.
“There was? I didn’t see one.” Adam said as he slowly lowered his hands cautiously. “Was it from a man named Petrelli? I’m beginning to think he just doesn’t like me.”
"Yes. Petrelli. Recall warning lacking specifics. Pertaining to yourself and individual called Sylar. Nothing else." Possible smear campaign? Must investigate. "Possible attempt to discredit you."
He examined Monroe with suspicion. "Hope you have urgent business out here. This area not very safe. Many dangerous people about."
"If anyone, Sylar is the one to be worried about. He has abilities like I’ve never seen before…” Well, sort of. He’s seen telekinesis before, but he never saw it used against him like Sylar did. But there’s no need to go telling that to the world.
"I'm not too worried about dangerous people.” Adam said, a small grin on his face. “I’ve been out of the loop for a while, but I think I may know what’s going on. A war, a battle, whichever you wish to call it, correct?”
"Yes." A curt nod. "Time travel involved. Base under attack by two opposing hostile forces. General O'Neill dead. Resistance not fully organized. Chaos everywhere. Very bad." Rorschach began to pace. "All fault of rock and roll music. Part of national degeneration. Country should have remembered moral example of President Truman. This wouldn't have happened then."
“You were around for Truman as well? That’s quite far back… Over eighty years back, in this current time line, I think. Time travel never leads to any good.” Adam said bitterly, he never was one to like time travel, especially time travellers.
“Rock and Roll? Ah right, that band I keep hearing about. Dethklok, the harbingers of chaos and mayhem, that’s for certain…” He trailed off, before asking, “There’s a resistance?”
"Yes." Rorschach stopped pacing to fix Monroe with his unnerving, eyeless stare. "Work separately from them. Function best alone, without oversight. Without restraint." Pause. "But can put you in touch with them, if interested in fighting present chaos."
Adam was beginning to find this man (albeit dangerous,) interesting. Like the fact he never used a subject other than 'you' throughout their entire conversation.
"I think for now, working alone is my best option." Especially if the 'resistance' was in such disarray that this man (he'd still never gotten his name) advised him to avoid it. "But thank you for your considerations... Mr...?"
"Rorschach. Just Rorschach." The vigilante turned away, mind already working on other ways of acquiring information. "Have work to do now. Stay out of trouble, Monroe."
