some world-shattering revelations When she at long last arrives at the bar, Caroline is doing her best not to think. About Mac. About Guy. About Mac and Guy. About Guy and Mac. She's doing a fairly shit job of not thinking, hence the visit to the bar.
After claiming a stool for her own, she flags down the bartender. "Bring me a gin and gin." At the look of blank incomprehension, she sighs, "It's like a gin and tonic, but with more gin instead of the tonic. I drink it when I'm stressed. In fact, just line five of them up right here." She pats the bar top in front of her. Yes, she is exceedingly stressed.
Later, but not nearly as much later as one might think, she has three empty glasses and one full in front of her. The remaining glass is in her hand and well on its way to being killed off, and things are starting to get nicely fuzzy around the edges. But Caroline doesn't kid herself. She knows she'll need much more booze than this to even temporarily blot out the mental images of what she saw when she walked into Mac's apartment earlier. With a softly hissed curse, she slams the rest of that glass and picks up the last gin-laden one, already planning an order of replacements.
