David Sedaris

Last night was fucking brilliant.
and utterly disappointing.

David Sedaris was hilarious, awesome, incredible...basically every good adjective there is.
He was about 15 feet from me (the stage was about 5 feet in front of me and he was set back about 10 feet on the stage) during his readings. HILARIOUS FUCKING STORIES.

The disappointing part was that I didn't get anything signed. The line was INCREDIBLY LONG. I wait for as long as I could (which was from 9:50-10:40) but I had to catch the 11:00 bus (it was the last one of the night and there was no way I could miss it!) In the 50 minutes that I waited in line (though I wouldn't call it a line it was more of a crowd) I moved probably 10 feet. It sucked when I realzed there was no WAY I was going to make it to him...I seriously contemplated sleeping at work and staying there for as long as it would take...but decided against it.
The part that really upsets me is that I got downtown at like 6:50 (PJ dropped me off) and when the doors opened I had to pee so bad I made a B-Line for the bathroom not even NOTICING David Sedaris signing books before the show..I SO could have gotten my book signed because I was there SOOOOO fucking early. It sucked.

On another note, the usher(ette? for ladies...) was telling me how all the ushers are volunteers. That she has been volunteering there for 20+ years. She's seen hundreds of shows (for free!) she said she saw like 56 performances of The Yellow Submarine. Fucking awesome. So I want to look into volunteering there..it'd be incredible, all the stuff you'd see for free! I am going to call about it today at lunch.

OK, the end ha.
