Meeting new neighbors

Mar 10, 2009 16:37

When i got home from bowling, i came to a very excited and rambunctious puppy dog. (yes, he's a huge puppy dog, but he'll still be the puppy for now.). I took him out for a walk because he was just so excited and needed to walk it off.

We made our way around the block, and as we passed by, people commented on how big he was, and then i would stop and chat with them. That is not normal for me at all, so i know it's all Biscuit. But...... i was excited to just be chatting with people in general.

We continued walking, and then we came around the corner to find a mom and her daughter on the front porch. They saw Biscuit and the little girl got really excited. She asked to pet him, and i told her it was fine. She was just really excited to touch the puppy dog. Her name is Sarah also. I started talking to her mom, Ainslie, and we talked about the neighborhood watch program. She also told me about the babysitting swap they have in the neighborhood. We talked for a little longer and then we exchanged emails and numbers. :) Yay i was excited to meet a new mom in the neighborhood.

I walked down a couple more houses and ran into another mom and her kids. We talked and they pet the dog, and we chatted for a little while longer. I got her information, and now we're planning on having a little playdate soon. Awesome! I will have to take this dog walking more often. :) It's nice to be able to meet new neighbors, and actually get around to talking to people.

I think that when Biscuit goes home on Saturday, Brandon and I might take a drive to the rescue shelter and see what puppy dogs they have. I just know that the kids are going to be sad when Biscuit goes home... and I will be a little sad also. I never expected to get attached to him.... but he's a really great dog. I had forgotten what it was like to have a dog around, and having company while you snuggle on the couch. (oh wait, that's like a child right? Oh no, the dog actually lets you snuggle. lol). So maybe. We'll have to talk about it more, but i think it might be a good thing for us all. ;)
