escape
→ sunny-centric, mention of changmin/yoona and kyuhyun/sooyoung
→ post snsd or post album stuff and busy schedules anyway.
→ 540 words
→ it's not running away when there's no one to run to or when there's no one to run after you.
→ disclaimer: any similarities to real life situations, relationship and individuals are purely coincidental. this isn't based on your life, jim.

The first time Sunny realizes it, she’s awake at the crack of dawn watching re-runs of old dramas.

Her vision narrows until the light from the tv screens blurs that it almost looks like the sea reflecting the morning sun in Phuket - orange, yellow and flashes of white dancing inside a border of black. She has no definite meaning of love, but Phuket was a good start. Phuket is warmth, comfort, paradise and plump lips that kiss the pain away.

But Phuket is not home. Seoul is, even if it cruel and dangerous. Sunny has learned to live with that unchangeable fact.

Tokyo is… a stranger turned friend. Tokyo knows all her secrets and fears. Tokyo is the place Sunny’s most afraid to let go of. She blinks and a tear escapes her eye. And before she knows it, she’s wetting Tiffany’s shirt in the corner of her room.

“I just want someone to love me, too.”

Instantly Tiffany knows what she’s talking about and before she can give an advice of some sort, Sunny’s mouth spill an incoherent mix of words and sobs. She stops and looks at Tiffany, and the American realizes that she can’t give Sunny her words. They mean nothing. Sunny has felt so much heartache and still want love - Tiffany can’t do that.

The next resort is food but she still refuses.

Tiffany smiles, “When you do meet him, bring him to me first and I’ll beat his tardy ass for finding you late.”

“You think so?”

“tardy ass? - yes, most definitely” She rolls her eyes on that one. They’re in their late-twenties for goodness’ sake.

“No, I mean that he’ll find me.”

“Well, you can go find him too. It may be hard but what the heck, that’s all our lives have been.”

One last hug and Sunny is off to book a flight after Yoona and Changmin’s wedding. To where? She doesn’t have a clue. But that’s a good thing - run off somewhere, relax, and take the world off your shoulders for once.

A bouquet lands on her hands on the day of the wedding. Yoona laughs and congratulates her. Changmin does the same. Sunny bids her goodbye after that, wine glass empty and a smile on her lips.

“Tiffany told me.”

“Of course she would.”

“When are you going back?”

“Honestly, I don’t think I’ll be back soon.”

Yoona gives a sad smile and reaches out for a hug - Sunny gladly gives in. “You have lots of debts to pay, when you get back. You need to babysit Sooyoung’s baby. Then maybe mine.”

“I’ll definitely babysit pretty babies when I get back. Tell Kyuhyun that Sooyoung can’t possibly give birth to a basketball team of babies.”

“I will and good luck!”

“Thanks. I definitely need that.” So with that, Sunny sets off and watches some romantic comedy on the plane ride to some place.

This time, Sunny realizes it’s okay to not fall in love. It all comes on the right time. Right now, she’s got herself and that’s probably all that matters, because by the end of the day, boys lie and girls cry - she can never change that but she can remain strong. Lee Sunkyu can remain strong for herself.
