Theatre People

Okay, so I see why people get annoyed with Theatre kids.  Sorry, I do.  Last night at rehearsal, we seriously had girls coming in and out of the green room the entire night bitching and moaning about all of their aches and pains.  They all like to be really big babies about every little trip and bump that happens, and then act for a few days like they might not be able to perform (OMIGOD END OF THE WORLD) and then, *miraculously*, they get better just in time to perform and everyone remembers how amazingly talented they are and how we appreciate this person.  Seriously, I overheard a conversation last night between to girls consisting of one girl saying that she doesn't think she's stong enough to dance, so she might fall and hurt herself and be unable to dance.  Then the other girl said that her leg won't be better enough to do girl A's dance until the second weekend of the show, so she hopes that if the Girl A falls, it's after the first weekend. --WHAT THE FUCK?!?!-- they were planning to deal with an injury that *might* happen!!  YOU MIGHT GET HIT BY A CAR TOMORROW!!!  Anything could happen!  What the fuck?  Are you planning to hurt yourself before the show?  It reminded me of my few brushes with showchoir, where there would always be between one and four hundred girls passing out and hurting their ankles and whatever other tragedy and then one of their friends would cradle her in their lap while everyone else gathered around in a circle to pay attention to this poor girl's medical tragedy.  I'm sorry, maybe it's just me, but if there are so many girls who injure themselves performing, maybe they should think about either A) Not Performing or B) Getting Stronger.  Unless they just want attention.  But I'm sure that's not what's happening.  My favorite part, though, is that when people are really sick or injured, those people hardly make a big deal out of it.  One of my friends in the show has mono.  Know what she did?  Went to the doctor and said "can I dance in the show?" and the doctor said yes, and now sher's dancing, and not whining, and she has fucking mono!!
