but I'd like to say that I am ecstatic that against my parents' better judgment, I drove myself out to Spectrum after 4 months of literally never driving... and I still got it. And by it I mean driving back at break neck speeds to get home by curfew.
Which brings me back to the annoying stupidity that are my parents. First off, I had plans for today... so I expressly told my dad to take the Camry and not The Beast... but noooooooo he takes my car so then I'm like RAWR because that pretty much screws up all the plans I had. THEN... I go to the dentist for an appointment and my mother decides that she needs to have something done... without telling me... so I sit there... playing tetris on my phone waiting forever after my appointment... only to find out that they can't do anything yet and we have to wait even LONGER because the entire office is going to lunch. So my mother decides that we can go get lunch... but see Michelle had plans for today. So I just sit pissed off and play more tetris... somewhere abouts 3:30, we finally leave... (we got there at like 11:30) and I get home and think about all the things that I should have done today that I didn't get done... like wrapping presents, getting cookie mix, baking cookies, visiting people at WaMu, meeting up with people...
but then there was a plus side... my iPod came early!! Yes... so Michelle has given in to ipods. It annoys me that everyone and their mothers have one... but there's also a flipside to that... because everyone has one... there are a bajillion products out that are compatible or made expressly for ipods. Among these would be lecture podcasts from Berkeley = ipod becomes a tool. Thus, I caved. That and if I end up getting a macbook like I'm planning, it'll be more compatible than a Creative.
So more minus side... my dad finally comes home and my mom starts screeching about how I'm stupid because I'm thinking about driving for the first time in 4 months at night and to a busy place like Spectrum where of course, all the holiday shopper drivers are out to get me. So then after much argument and a threat from my mother that if I get into an accident tonight, all driving privileges will be revoked... they finally relent and let me drive myself to Spectrum. Thank God. And as it turns out, I get into the car and have no problem remembering how to drive. I do take it a little on the slow side though and hovered no more than 5 miles over the speed limit on the drive up. However...
PLUS PLUS PLUS side... turns out I can still drive like I used to... meaning I can make it home from Spectrum in 10 minutes total. So... my parents being the annoying beings that they are... (mostly my mother) decide that I need a curfew. Being home by midnight is annoying. I personally think it should have been at least 1am... seeing as how some nights in Berkeley I don't get in til 4 or just not get in period. Besides, a midnight curfew doesn't make me leave any earlier... it just makes me speed faster. So... basically... 11:55, I'm back in my car letting out a barrage of words one might find a sailor yelling... or a french dude... words that aren't "ahoy" and "bonjour." After some interesting illegal maneuvers, I get out of the structure and I'm waiting for the light to change on the freeway on-ramp. These idiots in a camry are next to me and since I'm determined to get home ASAP, when the light changes, I floor it and they inhale The Beast's exhaust. 11:59, I'm exiting Crown Valley Pkwy. 12:03 I'm straightening the car on the driveway because my parents left me the hardest spot to park straight... seeing as there's the suburban on the street and the other car on the driveway... and 12:04 I walk in the door and tell my mother I'm late because I had to straighten the car properly so my dad could get in it tomorrow. Terribly unlucky how the camry needs to go in for maintenence so my dad's taking The Beast tomorrow too.
But hey, I still got it.
And an ipod.
All in all, today was miserable, annoying, and horrible... but ended nicely.
