i suggest that this is not true. that it is only the juxtaposition of hot pink as an unexpected color for penguins against preconceived notions of penguin coloring that make this interesting at all.
While I agree with this, is it not a novelty to associate penguins with serving trays? The only possible connection is one associating penguins with having markings which resemble butlers, which is a tenuous connection, at best. Furthermore, your assertion that the unexpected color is the sole novelty is ill-conceived. Were the serving tray penguins to be, say, brown, the interest would not be as strong-- even though brown is an unexpected color for a penguin.
My statement stands: maximum novelty is derived from hot-pink penguins, however, a serving tray consisting of mundane penguins or a serving tray consisting of anything hot pink-- say, hot pink fedoras, would still remain novel.
