Mythology as fandom

Mythology has some awesome fannish things happening and I keep losing things, so I figured I'd put them all in one handy post. Feel free to skip, or come on by.

In September by Cluegirl - "In September, the Oracle of Delphi came, carrying a box of brightly colored chalk." - Short story about a visitation from the Oracle, and monsters.

Persephone Lied by Spuffyduds - The truth is, I was bored. - A poem, which is not usually my thing, but this is fantastic and powerful, and a gorgeous twist on the myth.

A genderbent Hades/Persephone by Glorfindel/Lanyon - Six months each seems reasonable for stealing your sister’s kid and here’s the real kicker: sure, there are some who’d called it Stockholm Syndrome but Hades really loves the boy. - Another (very) short story.

alighterwithlove is doing a racebent Greek Myth Fancast which is fantastic. So far she's done Artemis and Apollo, and Hades, Zeus and Posiedon

And then there are the Mythical Head Bitches in Charge fancasts by Ilvalentinos, which come with little drabbles, which are brutal and glorious.

Springtime Will Kill You, from this years' Yuletide, is a noir retelling of the stories of Persephone and Hade, and of Orpheus and Eurydice. Orpheus doesn't think much about his life before he was a private detective. But when he's hired to search for a missing girl, he'll have to take on Hollywood royalty, hired killers, and maybe, finally, himself. - I don't know who wrote it yet, but when I do...

In other news, WHY AM I WRITING SO MANY OF THE THINGS I AM NOT WRITING?!!!? The point of not writing them is to get on with the things I AM writing. I just want to finish some of these things. Is that so much to ask? ;_;

mythology, recommendations
