The laptop is still on the sick list. One of the programs for getting it back on its feet shut it down in such a way that it wouldn't boot. Yeah. Apparently it just needed to sulk for a couple of days, though. Having found the Vista (not my fault) recovery disk, I turned it on to get the "rescue" disk (please note the sarcastic quote marks) and it booted the "rescue" disk straight away. So progress is being made, although it's not helped by the fact that the program doesn't seem to allow my mousepad to work. WHY IS THIS SO HARD YOU GUYS?
Also, it still hasn't done what it was supposed to do. So I'm clearing off my portable hard drive and I'm rescuing my files off the laptop before I do anything else. I may have to disinfect it later, but at least I'll have my files. If I'd lost all the photos I haven't backed up lately, I would actually have been heartbroken.
I'm working at the training dig this week. It's the second week, so some good progress has been made before I got there. I was a bit surprised to find that the temp today was only about 25 degrees - it makes me feel like a wuss that I had to give up and go sit in the barn for a bit. In fairness, wielding the mattock is hard work (and it made my wrists sore, because I'm a wuuuussssss).
I think there were supposed to be more words, but they went away.
Oh hey, speaking of which, what's the word for when two words sound a bit similar? Not like homophones or homonyms, but like... that thing. Argh. Okay, the example I was thinking of was "mad badger", because both words have the "ad" thing going on, and I used to know the name for it, but I've completely forgotten. Help?
I am tired, and possibly a little punchy. Sleep now. Rawr.
