Just now dividing my time between two fandoms.
I have written a couple of things in the last while though, both inspired by fanart. How are people so talented?!?!?
The first one is based on
spacefragments entry for the
hd_worldcup,
Cruel Language. This was such an incredible bit of storytelling. Every picture is desperately evocative, and the expressions are exquisite. I had to know more about what was going on. So I wrote it from Draco's perspective.

He barely had time to use the pendant to signal his mother to stay at the Manor before he pulled the dark hood of his cloak back from his face. The plan was fucked. They would have needed at least four fighting wands to get away, and instead Granger and Weasel were dead and Harry could barely stay upright long enough to stumble across the clearing to get to him. There was only one way to get Harry out of this alive.
As the winter sun rose gentle and golden, Harry collapsed in his arms. Draco held him close and kissed him gently, conscious all the while of the Disillusioned Death Eaters waiting amongst the trees. It was probably the last time he would ever do so. Inside himself he gathered all the fury and self-loathing he felt at what he was about to have to do. Harry would never forgive him for this.
“Crucio.”
He couldn’t bring himself to meet the look of stunned incredulity in the green eyes, nor even catch Harry as his knees finally gave out from the pain. He felt so brittle he thought he might shatter into a million pieces if he so much as moved. He was committed to this. He was. He had just never imagined quite how much he would have to sacrifice for it.
The second one came out of left field for me.
harrysde is insanely gifted, so I will look at whatever he draws, even if it's not really my thing. For example,
the Draco/Albus Severus piece he did for
melusinahp. I've mentioned before that cross-gen kinda squicks me, right? My brain said, "Too bad!" and away we went. As always, I love the clean lines and rich colours as well as the attention to detail. Al's uncertainty really caught my imagination - the way he's clutching at Draco even as he leans away. And suddenly I found that I had written cross-gen. Way to go, brain.
Title: More Than He Bargained For
Rating: PG
Word Count: 102 (Hey, it's a real drabble!)
It was what he'd been angling for for weeks but suddenly, backed up against Professor Malfoy's desk, Al felt a fluttering of alarm. He had grown up hearing stories of his parents' schooldays, albeit not from them, and he knew what the Professor was capable of. It had been part of the appeal. It was only now, with the full weight of the Professor's almost predatory attention focussed solely on him and nowhere to run, that he realised exactly what that meant.
Al's eyes flicked down to the tightly drawn mouth, then met the grey eyes fixed on his face. "Yes, sir."
Cruel to be Kind is actually the intro to a much larger story. ( I may have got a little carried away.) I have 4500 words, which I think is probably about half of it. Does anyone have suggestions on how to rescue a story that has run out of juice? I don't think it has tailed off hopelessly yet, it's just that I'm at the point where I need to start writing towards the end, and I don't know what the end is. I guess that would be the place to start, huh? Work out where it's going. Hmmm.
