R.I.P.

Three years ago, my brother-in-law, Paul, committed suicide. Our relationship was rocky, to say the least. But the number one response in this entry was for him. They say hind-sight is 20/20, and losing Paul taught me to try to see things as they come instead of regretting judgments or inaction later.

So for I post this for you, Paul, and for those you left behind. I know I'll see you again, but I hope you down some Guinness and laugh at the absurdity of this earthly ride until then...

A brief candle; both ends burning
An endless mile; a bus wheel turning
A friend to share the lonesome times
A handshake and a sip of wine
So say it loud and let it ring
We are all a part of everything
The future, present and the past
Fly on proud bird
You're free at last.

"It is here in my heart and mind and memories." --Maya Angelou
