2013 Reading Challenge

Owning and reading books and novels was just a dream to me. One reason is the expensive prices of books that led me to lose interest in reading. Imagine a copy costing around 500-700 pesos. I just don't think it's practical especially that I was still a student back then and I know that I can use the money to other stuff than buying books. But since I bought my iPod Touch, I was able to download ebooks for free. I downloaded all the books and novels i've been dying to have from different authors like Emily Giffin, Sophie Kinsella, Nicholas Sparks and some trilogies. Every time I download books, i have this satisfying and bliss feeling.  And because of that, i found out (or a bloc mate told me, can't remember exactly) this website, www.goodreads.com wherein I can get ideas of new books to read, or what kind of books will boost my interest in reading. Due to that, I've known new authors like S.C Stephens, John Green, Abbi Glines etc. Every time I download new books, I'm excited to read it all, but another problem is I'm a slow reader. :(( It took me 2 mos to read the final installment of the twilight series, The Breaking Dawn, which I thought at first was normal because the book was thick. I can't even remember how many months it took me to read The Fling despite of it's good story but surely it took me a number of months 'cause I can't exactly remember. Even the fifty Shades trilogy took me 5 mos to finish. One day, I was bored so I started browsing the goodread's web page, I saw the "2013 Reading Challenge" and at first I said to myself, " I can't do this. I can't even finish reading a book in a week and 20 books in 1 year means reading 1 to 2 books per month which is quite impossible for a slow reader like me". But then, I was in the mood to challenge myself cause I know this will surely serve as a motivation to keep on reading. So, I joined and I even adjusted the number of books from 20 to 30 book in a year that means 2 to 3 books per month. but then, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! And based from my performance, I've read 11 books since January of 2013 which is a great leap for me. I'm proud of myself for nailing this one :)
