Title: Random Original Writing #1
Rating: PG
Fandom: Original
Pairings/Characters: Jenny, The Cute Boy, Jenny's Manager
Summary: Jenny works at an electronics store in the mall after school from three until eight. It's a shitty job, that only pays enough to barely cover her cellphone bill every month (which her parents are making her pay for because they are totally mean and don't understand the importance of texting to a teenager).
Author's Notes: I was talking with
doctorfumbles tonight about writing and how we both feel like we need to write at least once a day and write more original stuff. She was telling me how she found this website that says you should write at least for one hour a day, until you get into the writing groove and that it doesn't have to mean anything or be any good, as long as you write. I thought that was such a good idea, that I said we should poke each other to make sure we write for one our a day. So, here's my first attempt. It didn't take an hour to write cause I don't really feel like working on anything for an hour since it's getting kind of late, but at least I wrote something!

Jenny works at an electronics store in the mall after school from three until eight. It's a shitty job, that only pays enough to barely cover her cellphone bill every month (which her parents are making her pay for because they are totally mean and don't understand the importance of texting to a teenager).
The only good thing about her job, happens on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Those are the days that the cute boy from her Algebra class is working in the ice cream shop by the south entrance of the mall. On his break, between four-thirty and five, he comes into the store, heads over to the radios and changes them all to the same rock station before turning the volume up.
On the third Wednesday of the month, things are different though. Instead of heading straight for the radios, The Cute Boy goes over to the counter where Jenny is sitting. She's on returns duty for the day.
"Hey," he says as he brushes his dark brown hair out of his green eyes. He looks totally adorable in his ice cream uniform; pale slacks, a dark blue polo shirt and a blue and white stripped apron and one of those folded paper hats like from back in the 50s or something and Jenny can't help but blush and melt.
"Hey," she manages to say back and immediately feels lame. "Can I uh help you with a return or something?"
"Naw," The Cute Boy says.
"So, like, why do you always come in here and mess with the radios?"
"Honestly?"
"Yeah."
"I've been wanting to ask you something for, like, ever and thought that if I messed with the radios, someone might complain and you would have to talk to me and that would be my excuse to talk to you," he says and blushes.
Jenny grins and thinks to herself Oh my god, he's going to ask me out!. "So, like, what do you want to ask me?"
"Is your manager gay? Cause he's really cute and I'd really like to ask him out, but like, not of he's not into guys cause that would totally make me feel like an idiot."
Jenny's heart sinks and her smile fades. "No," she says, "he's not gay."
"Oh, okay. Well, thanks. I'm going to go back to work now," The Cute Gay Boy says and leaves.
A few minutes after he's gone, Jenny's manager asks her into the back office. "Did I just see you talking to that kid who always turns up the radios?"
"Yeah."
"Are you friends?"
"Not really, why?"
"Oh, I just thought since you were talking to him you might be and you would know if he's gay or not? He's been coming in here for so long, I think I'm going to finally ask him out."
"No," Jenny says, "he's not gay" and goes back to work.
