Recs and Fan Dancing
I have been helping my mother go through drawers of family photos (yes, we are still going through my grandfather's things. Actually, we are still going through my grandmother's things and she died about seven years ago) and we found photographic evidence of an event my father tried to keep from my sister and me for years, which is:
So my dad's family has been all things Navy (except for the odd person who went Army instead) forever (except for my dad, his siblings and cousins) which means for a few years when my dad was a child they lived in Japan (actually, my uncle was born there too). My grandmother decided that while they were living in Japan my dad should take Japanese dancing lessons. And now we have pictures! Oh my god my poor nine-year-old father! He looks so angry with this big scowl on his tiny face! When we (gleefully) showed him we found it (it had been shoved in the back of another picture. Clearly someone was hoping it would never be found again), he got all sulky and grumbled something about "the fans were supposed to represent swords". AHAHAHAHA! Oh, father. I believe you, I do. But you look so ridiculously adorable. Now I just need to find pictures from when my grandmother made him take tap dance classes...
What makes it better is that he is a terrifically awful dancer. According to my mom. Who refuses to be seen with him in public when he dances.

So around 2:00 am (insomnia is a bitch) I managed to find my way on this site (which is in Russian) (Since I understand exactly nothing in Russian, the link I am about to provide has been inexpertly translated by google (thanks google).) and found this adorable manip of Merlin (by Assamite). THE HAT! I am completely in love with the hat! This is so perfectly precious and well done! I can be a bit leery of manips (particularly NSFW ones) for no real/good reason. But this was lovely!
Speaking of well done manips that I am in love with (though this IS NSFW): Exquisite Pain by Tashastrawberry. When I first saw this I seriously thought this was real. And my brain short-circuited. So brilliant.
Other art of note (and makes me really want to read all the Russian Merlin Big Bang even though I do not understand Russian even a little): Fairy by ThymusS and More Than Life and I'd Come For You by tindu. These are all just stunning and the color used is fabulous and sets the respective moods so beautifully. Just wonderful, all of them.
The last two recs are from kinkme_merlin. The first is new and by randomslasher: cuddling boys. This is just so sweet and really lovely. For this prompt: Shirtless boys cuddling. Merlin's chest is Arthur's favourite pillow. I love their hands in this. The scene is so tender and gentle and I love Merlin's head resting against Arthur's. So beautiful.
The last is not new but I just realised I had not actually recced it yet (except to riventhorn I believe). Merlin with ear gauges (+ Arthur) by anon. Never would've thought the idea of Merlin with ear gauges would be so damn attractive. But it is. And I am in love with his hair. The red streak is a very nice touch. Such a lovely work. I stare at this frequently. It just makes me so ridiculously happy!
