Rikkai!High/The Girls Team: “Interlude: A Life Outside of Tennis.”
Shimizu Koharu slumps down on the grass, arms spread at her sides. It is nearing noon and they have taken shelter at the base of a tree. While the sky is mostly clear, there is a thin hint of clouds in the far distance, faint traces of white marring an otherwise brilliant blue.
“You know,” her companion huffs as he slumps down beside her. In his hands he is cradling the soccer ball that they have been kicking around for hours now. “If you were on the soccer team, you wouldn’t be worrying over the issue brought on by the budget cut.”
She turns her head to look at Itano Takashi then and promptly makes a face before landing a half-hearted punch on his bicep. “You scouted me once before, in junior high. You already know my answer, Takashi.”
In response, he just laughs and mock-sighs. “Well, I had to try.”
