[There's some sounds in the background, rummaging sounds maybe.] Is it just me, or does the food taste weird to anyone else here?

I mean.. it's not bad; I've had worse. It just tastes kinda like somethin' is missing. The food in the prison tasted that way too. It's not like Vault food either. It's.. I dunno.

It tastes perfectly normal to me. But then I can't say I'm sure what "vault food" would taste like.

It tasted fresh. Like, you could eat it and even if you didn't like the flavor you could taste that it was good for you. Like Pre-War food, except not all the packaged stuff. That stuff's pretty gross.

I suppose that'd depend on the war. But so long as you're not loading up on crisps and cake and the like most of this should still be just as good for you.

The Great War. It's okay if you haven't heard of it. I mean, everybody I talked to already hasn't anyway. [There's a brief, guilty silence.] Not usually! Like, not all the time.

Do you mean the first world war, or....? [....actually, you know what. No. She's played this game with how many people already, she's just. Going to let it go this time.]

[Also. She hears that guilty silence. :|] The Middle District sells some good meat and produce. It might taste a bit better.

[He just laughs a little.] No, but that's okay. Some guy I talked to before said it was hundreds of years before what it is where I'm from. Maybe it hasn't happened yet for you. That'd be cool.

Really? That'd be great. It's not, like.. super expensive, is it? Someone stole some of my money while I was in prison, so I haven't got a bunch left.

Yes?

You know, it really wasn't as bad as I thought. I mean, maybe we just got a good prison?

I'm more curious about why you were in there than inmate creature comforts, really.

Oh. Well, I tried to break into their computer system. You know, to get at their files.

Well, I hope whatever you found was worth it.

Not really. We didn't find anything. [sheepishly:] They had some security in place that I wasn't expecting.

The sort that get you jumped and tossed into a tiny little cell, I'm assuming. Cameras? Card readers?

It wasn't that tiny... Uhm, no. I think it was something in the keyboard. A sensor, a scanner, somethin' like that.

Finger prints, perhaps?

[that's how it works in all the movies, at least!]

[can you hear his eyes widening and the lightbulb coming on? no, likely not, but I bet you can hear him groan.] God, of course! Fingerprints! Ugh... nobody back home ever uses those! I forgot all about them! That's got to be it then. I can't believe I screwed up over fingerprints! ...thanks though.
