[The city is quiet; there is no fighting, and it seems relatively at peace for a moment. It explains why there are some people out, but it also accounts for why there are troubled thoughts in the air. Where are the newcomers, why did they leave, why did they come back? Regardless, there are people in the streets, and the time to get to know them is ( Read more... )

[When she first arrived in Icarus, everything was a mess. Then everyone disappeared. Of course, once everyone came back, her powers vanished so she couldn’t pick up anything up. But now that things are finally back to normal for Emma, she figured it was time to check out the Upper Court and see what she could pick up from the government officials in Icarus.

Getting through the gate had been easy enough, but so far she was having a difficult time picking up anything particularly interesting from anyone here. So for now, Emma’s just standing in the middle of the district trying to figure out her next move.]

[Strange enough? Its not an official around these parts, but a woman wrapped in a shawl, looking a bit confused as she wanders around. Her eyes widen when she sees Emma, but she tries to remain lax, keeps her hands pressed together and she keeps walking. If the other tries to read her thoughts, she'll get a scramble of things.]

[After a moment’s hesitation, Emma follows after the mystery woman. That brief glance could have been caused by anything, but she doesn’t like the fact that she couldn’t get a clear read on what caused it. Given what some people keep hidden in their heads, this could be a real problem.]

Something the matter dear? If I somehow startled you, it wasn’t intentional.

Ah! [She nearly jumps back at the fact that Emma is speaking to her. Her eyes are wide and her hands lift to clench at her collar. Her brows furrow, and there's a shake of the head.]

I-I didn't mean to give you the impression, I just.. [She's a beautiful lady, the other one - its strange, and that's what she believes, considering how the city is.] Its nothing, I'm sorry, ma'am.

[Emma raises an eyebrow at the woman’s reaction. Her reaction doesn’t change when the mixed jumble of thoughts come in.

She was looking for something interesting, and now she’s convinced there’s definitely something going on here.]

It’s quite all right. But if you don’t mind me asking, is there some reason you’re so jittery? All I did was ask a question.

No, I-- its hard not to be jumpy. [She drops her heads, looks to the ground.] Its been awful quiet lately, and its really strange.

I don't talk to many people around here in the first place.

[Since she seems to have calmed down a bit, Emma attempts to take a quick peek at her thoughts. Maybe she can get a better idea of what’s going on now.]

Let me guess. You avoid talking to strangers because the city is filled with horrible unpleasant people? Am I on the right track, darling?

[She figures she may as well keep this woman focused on a subject and talking while she tries to poke around in there.]

[Its still jumbled! That's weird, considering the woman seems perfectly normal. The small bits that Emma will be able to get out are images; some from the poor district, some from the rich, but that's about it for some reason.]

I-I avoid talking to them because they don't stay long. It doesn't help my memory, miss... [Her eyes wander off for a moment.]

[She’ll back off for now. No sense diving further and getting lost in her thoughts.]

What do you mean it doesn’t help your memory?

[She might be able to help with that depending on what it is.]

I-- since I was young, I've had a problem remembering things. [She's not sure why she's telling the other, but its as if she's compelled to, for some reason or another.]

I have lapses in my memory.

Let me take another wild guess. You've seen doctors and they can't help you?

accident_npcs November 6 2011, 08:20:27 UTC
They've tried. [She lets out a sigh.]

Tried being the keyword.

I know this isn't any of my business, but did you or did they have any idea what caused it?

Something about... The Rich District. I used to live there.

Not anymore though, its.. [She shook her head.] I'm sorry-- I'm just rambling...

Well, darling, you may be in luck since I might be able to help you. You see, I don't just wander around looking absolutely fabulous at all times. I'm also quite qualified to help treat things like this.

[She smiles, trying to look concerned.]

So if you'd like, I'd be willing to try.
