Basics: User-created programs with clearly defined directives or functions.
Beta-class Basic: A newly created Basic, still in the testing stages. [ HE IS A BABBY. ]
Kevin Flynn: A User. He is the source of the Grid's growth and change.
The Grid: A closed computer system in which Basics and ISOs exist.
ISOs: Short for 'isomorphic algorithms'; programs which have no known User or creator, who rose from the Sea of Simulation by themselves. They are closer to these AIs you speak of, as they have the capability to evolve, change and 'grow', as Users may put it.
