101 Goals in 1,001 Days - Take 3 - 1,001 to 30!*

Dec 01, 2014 01:44

The Challenge:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple challenges such as New Year's resolutions or a 'Bucket List'. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips, study semesters, or outdoor activities.

My Challenge:
This will mark my 3rd attempt at a Day Zero (101 goals in 1,001 days) project, I learnt a lot from my previous two attempts, worked out what I could and could not achieve in 1,001 days, and learnt a lot about what I did want to achieve.

Technically I am not finished my second attempt, that is due to finish in March 2015, I have not given up on that, I have come to the realisation that I will not successfully complete everything on that list, and I am okay with that, however, I will still try and finish those that I can achieve where possible. Those will be counted on that list and not this one (though some exceptions will be made and stated).

This time I believe I have chosen more reasonable goals which I should be able to achieve, even if some do take a bit of effort, but isn't that what this is about, challenging yourself? While some of my goals may sound a bit vague that is more due to my brain not functioning at 100% at the moment they were written (it was late, it was hot and I was tired lol) rather than ambiguity, I know what I mean and will explain what I mean where possible.

Also I have joined a couple of things together in one goal, goals that most people would see as separate goals, because in my mind I view them as one goal.

The reason I am starting attempt 3 before the end of 2 is because December 1st 2014 will mark 1,001 days until my 30th birthday and these are the things I would like to complete before I am done with my 20's.

Consider it a way to end one chapter of my life before another begins.

My Rules:
1. I will do an update post roughly every 100 days - I am not making this a goal like I did in attempt 2 because I felt guilty when I was 11 days late once and it was taking the place of something that could have been a better goal.
2. After 6 months there will be no 'tweaking' of the goals. * edited november 3rd 2015 with changes made in May 2015.
3. Due to the fact there is only 1 month of 2014 left goals that say 'each year' will not necessarily be a requirement for 2014, where possible I will complete them but it is not an automatic fail for that goal if I cannot complete them all in the 31 days left of this year.
4. Movies/Books watched and read for the other entertainment goals will be counted in the 101 list.

Start Date: Monday, December 1st 2014
