i am entranced by the sea, deep grey blue black rolling heavily against the sand like it would break us to pieces if it only could reach us, but always we scuttle like sand-crabs except back away. it is living and breathing and teeming with otherworldness like outer-space, hiding the most fantastic aliens deep inside its waves. i am entranced by the trees, by the scents of crushed brown leaves like cinnamon and nutmeg and mold, by the color of the green leaves when the sunlight comes through from behind them, by the sounds made by footfalls crack-rustle-crunch-husk, and the air smelling like green things and rain and honey and earth and the smokey breathless scent of tree-bark, and mushrooms and fallen trees covering over with moss. i am entranced by the sky, wide blue dome high high so high and hard and clear and bright, canvas for cloud-shapes, and gunmetal grey all over and drizzling and spitting on us, and tumbling blue-grey and black and cutting with lightning and growling, and pure soft grey-white that drapes a silence over the whole world when it sheds down its flakes.
