Scared of her future
Scared of her past
Wishing that she knew
What comes next
She was always bright
Always smart
She always knew
To follow her heart

But this time she wonders
If it was the right thing to do
This time she wonders
Why she feels so confused

She feels so alone
As if no one is there
She feels so alone
As if no body cares.

Big changes are coming
So different from her past
Freedom is coming
Her heart pounds fast
For this kind of freedom
She has never known
It thrills her and scares her
It’s an unfamiliar road
It’s like forbidden fruit
That she’s tempted to eat
But when she takes that bite
She can never go back

Because once fruit is tasted
She can never go back
She will leave her old life
And start one anew
Leave what she knows
And begin fresh and new

The changes that are coming
Scare her more each day
For they become more real
Not a dream far away

The gowns and the hats
The parties galore
Beginning her new life
One scary and strange
She knows it will be hard
To be off on her own
With no one around her
That she can call her own

And she wonders why
She keeps going at all
She wonders why
When she knows she might fall

Simple words keep her going
She replays them in her head
Simple words that she loves
Go round time and again
The things you fear most
Usually turn out the best
The things you dread
Are the ones you never regret

This idea that she has
Keeps her going each day
It helps her try the new
To push the fear out of the way
For the things that she fears
Usually turn out great
When she pushes aside
The fear and the caution
Those are the times
She remembers most often
