Can just anyone go see presentations? I thought you had to be invited or something.. but I really know nothing about how it goes... I would be interested in going to see Joel's though... I bet it'll be good.

Yea, pretty much anyone can go to the presentations. You don't technically need to be invited; just know when someone is presenting, and get permission from your teacher for that hour.
