Dear Professor...

This was the email I wrote my teacher but decided it would be better to speak to him directly instead.

Dear Professor,

I just want to say that Thursday's class was hands down the best classroom discussions I've ever heard in regards to racial issues in the law. You'll notice I didn't say anything in class and there are two reasons for that. First, since high school, there were many times where I was one of two black students in the class and whenever the discussion of race came up, one of three things would happen:
1. The teacher would explain to the class how I'm deeply affected by slavery and then get mad at me when I correct him or her.
2. Explain how they understand the 'black experience' because said teacher experienced some for of discrimination. (As if my life and the life of every other black person in America is one prolonged fight against the white man.)
3. Constantly stare at me throughout the entire lecture. (made even creepier when you remember that we are talking about race and I'm sometimes the only minority in the room.)
Not the mention some of the students. I'm just really happy that for the first time in nearly 15 years, none of these three things happened!
