oh, 2010....
what an exceedingly long time since i've posted here....
for the longest time, my life has been completely taken up with preparations for esther's visa interview. she had it on feb. 18th and it was approved!!! we've been planning for and thinking about this ever since july 1st, 2009, when our friend the internet told her that she was pre-selected...but not to get her hopes up. i cried that night when i realized i could go home. don't even get me started on how many obstacles along the way were cry-worthy, too...i have to write an entire separate entry on this consistently insane process! but i'm not crying now...i'm aware of what a miracle this is!!
we're getting ready to move back to the states this coming saturday, march 6th. the fact that we were supposed to leave today, and because the embassy switched some things up on us, had to change our tickets and pay an arm and a leg to do so (each!), almost doesn't even matter any more.
once we get back to the us, the plan is to move to chicago so we can both eventually study there. i've been job and apartment hunting for several weeks now and actually have 2 interviews set up. they're for "ok" jobs, not the ones i REALLY want, but believe you me that i'm going to take whatever i can get. and trust that God will guide us for good!! we will go there and work there and study there....should God be willing. james, baby!
today all of that was interrupted by the earthquake in chile. thank Jesus that so many of my friends have checked in and are ok...but there is still NO communication with anyone in the eighth region, the place where i lived and worked when i was in campus ministry. PLEASE pray with me if you do that. obviously i just want everyone to be ok, but right at the moment the hard part is just not having ANY idea...and imagining them all trying to sleep tonight with walls down and buildings destroyed and no way to tell their families that they're ok. yeah. pray.
