Hi.  I saw the promo for this community and decided I should probably join.  I'm queer/kinda FTM identified and my parents both died of cancer.  My dad died when I was 13 (1991) after a drawn-out, mostly at-home illness, and my mom died when I was 20 (1998) at the end of a 2nd bout of cancer.  They both smoked, which is one reason why I no longer do.  I don't have too much else to say right now, except that I'm available to talk if anyone ever wants to, and I understand all the awful prolonged sickness/hospital stuff.
