A big reading month for the children’s books with the Rick Riordan ‘extras’ being very quick reads so they pushed the numbers up for the month.
~ ~ ~
Riordan, Rick ~ Kane Chronicles: Survival Guide, The ~ Disney Hyperion Books ~ 2010 ~ B
The Kane Chronicles Extra ~ Fantasy ~ Myths ~ A companion to the Kane Chronicles trilogy with no extra story, but great art work in an encyclopaedia format. Nice.
Riordan, Rick ~ Percy Jackson and the Olympians ~ Disney Hyperion Books ~ 2009 ~ C
Percy Jackson Extra 01 ~ Fantasy ~ Myths ~ A companion to the Percy Jackson series with a couple of stories and few pictures and maps. Not as nice as the Kane series one and the bronze dragon story undermines a later book.
Riordan, Rick ~ Demigod Diaries, The ~ Disney Hyperion Books ~ 2012 ~ B
Percy Jackson Extra 02 ~ Fantasy ~ Myths ~ A companion to the Percy Jackson series. Good stories. Not many maps and pictures.
Hirsch, Odo ~ Will Buster and the Gelmet Helmet ~ Puffin Books ~ 2004 ~ B
Will Buster 01 ~ Science Fiction ~ Will Buster is specially selected to attend the Gelmet Academy which has a new way of teaching and specialises in making leaders but things are not when they seem. Good read.
Snyder, Zilpha Keatley ~ Egypt Game, The ~ Atheneum Books for Young Readers ~ 1967 ~ C
Contemporary (US) ~ Children's make-believe world and meets the real world. A much older book than I thought - this is a recent reprint of a 1967 published Newbury Honor Book. Okay.
Scarrow, Alex ~ Time Riders ~ Puffin Books ~ 2010 ~ B
Time Riders 01 ~ Science Fiction ~ Time travel ~ Three young people who are about to die are snatched away by a time traveller to be time riders - those who make sure time stays on track. A good, fast read.
Hurt, Freda M. ~ Two to Make Friends ~ Thomas Nelson & Sons ~ 1955 ~ D
Pinetops 03 ~ Contemporary (UK) ~ School story ~ Two new children join the Pinetops school crowd and learn to fit in. Okay.
Lyon, Elinor ~ We Daren't Go A'Hunting ~ Fidra Books ~ 1951 ~ B
Ian & Sovra 02 ~ Contemporary (UK) ~ Adventure ~ Ian, Sovra, Ann and Alistair try to catch poachers who are operating on Alistair's land. Very good.
Lyon, Elinor ~ Run Away Home ~ Fidra Books ~ 1953 ~ A
Ian & Sovra 03 ~ Contemporary (UK) ~ Adventure ~ Cathie runs away from the orphanage to try to find where she might have come from and meets up with Ian and Sovra. Excellent.
Lyon, Elinor ~ Echo Valley ~ Brockhampton Press ~ 1965 ~ C
Merediths 02 ~ Contemporary (UK) ~ Mystery ~ Jenny and Rowena discover Echo Valley and the old lady who lives there alone. Not as good as the other Elinor Lyon books.
Lyon, Elinor ~ Dragon Castle ~ Fidra Books ~ 1956 ~ A
Contemporary (UK) ~ Adventure ~ Martin goes to stay with his cousins while his father is sick but he has other family in the area and they seem a lot more interesting. Excellent.

Keeping
The Rick Riordan extras to go with the three series which were all keepers. The Elinor Lyon books except Echo Valley which was apparently one of the author’s own favourites but I found quite bland and boring.
Not Keeping / Not Pursuing
The Snyder title which is a much older book than I realised. (I was reading a modern paperback reprint). The Scarrow Time Riders series was all a bit dark and dreary for me. The Freda Hurt books are going to get the heavy-ho soon. They’re pretty slow reading as they’re not that interesting.
