moved
i moved. 6 blocks north, 5 blocks west. tiny little place, one bedroom, beige wall to wall and the heat works. there is a garbage disposal, although, from the looks of things the only items i'm allowed to dispose of there are the ones i suspect would wash down anyway without mechanical intervention. the cats are doing ok. lucien was pretty freaked out the first couple of days but they're both ok. this is a crazy time to move. its indiana and cold outside and the semester ended at the same time but the building i was living in died. the landlord packed it in and turned the heat off. that's illegal, by the way, if any of you ever find yourself in that situation, regardless of whether you technically hold a lease as long as he or she has cashed your checks.
one good thing that has come out of this is that i appreciate heat so much now...it doesn't even have to be very high. anywhere in the upper sixties feels fabulous.
and now i have place where everything that's supposed to work, actually does.
i'm not going home for christmas. the move took it out of me but i have a copy of its a wonderful life that i will watch if i get tired of christmas story. if.
