Sasuke hates falling asleep.
When he is asleep, he dreams, sometimes about the day of the Uchiha Massacre, and he hates those dreams; in them, everything is red, and the only thing he can feel is fear. He knows what he will see when he comes home, but is powerless to stop the chain of events time and time again. In the background, Itachi laughs coldly.
Other times, he and the rest of team seven are on a mission and Sakura and Naruto are bickering while Kakashi reads a dirty novel. Afterwards, Naruto insists they go out for ramen and somehow Sasuke ends up getting dragged along. He almost enjoys himself.
Mostly though, he dreams of tangled bed sheets and limbs. Ino's blonde hair is out of its pony tail and there are strands of it on his face, tickling his nose. On Sasuke's other side, Gaara watches in barely visible amusement as Sasuke wrinkles his nose and tries not to sneeze. He glares half-heartedly at him and lightly brushes the hair away, tucking it behind Ino's ear. The blankets have all gotten pushed to the floor and to the end of the bed, and Gaara shivers and presses up against him. Sasuke can feel his breath on the back of his neck as he sighs in contentment. Ino groans and mumbles something in her sleep before pressing herself against him as well. He almost smiles.
Sometimes, Sasuke really hates to wake up.
