Unfortunately, I'm single. A blessing and a curse. I don't have the luxury to have someone to help me with projects. "I've taught myself how to cook, fix plumming, wash clothes, balance my checkbook--- all I need from anyone is respect...".
I've been widowed for six years. I'm the only single parent in my family, the only one who has had the losses I've had and had to work as hard as I have to provide for my children, keep a home, have a life. I was a single parent for for seven years before I married my late husband. I don't have much of a life, and we don't have very much, but we have enough to survive. No one gets it until they have to live it. They think it's so easy to remedy, they can run their traps all day long about what you should and shouldn't do to make things better, what you should have done when and why you should have done it differently then. Respect? I can't even remember what that is, it's been so long since I've gotten any, yet I'm expected to give it to everyone.
Do what makes YOU happy. Live for YOU. Yes, they're your family, and yes, maybe they worry about you, and of course they care about you, but they can't live your life for you, and if they're not going to offer help with any of their suggestions, I'd tell them to stick their suggestions in a very unsanitary place.
Or ignore me...I'm ranting. My mother does this same thing to me, and it pisses me off until I blow up at her.

KEVIN THIS IS YOUR Life.
I have it hung on the wall in the kitchen. I see it daily.
