This is wonderful! It makes perfect sense that Howard and Jones would bond over inventing new sounds, and it absolutely never occurred to me. This has such a perfect balance of funny and sincere. Then it all goes a bit Rocky Horror and "He must care, yeah? Else he'd've pissed off ages ago," Jones says. The fact that he's twisting the front of his hair into a plastic children's barrette does take away a bit from the wisdom of the statement are my favorite lines, and I adored the bit where Dan and Jones are walking home...Anyway, I'll stop blathering and go read the next section!
