I believe I speak on behalf of many dissatisfied Starhub customers out there, with regards to their messy billing procedures and poor customer service. My first unhappy incident with Starhub was when I was charged hundreds of dollars for GPRS usage on my phone, when I don't even use my phone to surf the internet. They refunded the amount over the following months, but not after I called their customer service hotline, and was put on hold for 20 minutes, and explained the error to them.
My father recently received this month's bill for our Starhub cable TV subscription. Since August, when Starhub supposedly "upgraded" their information systems, they have been charging our bill to our address but under the wrong name. Surprisingly enough, the bill continued to be paid through our GIRO despite the incorrect billing name (is this a security lapse of some sort?). After calling Starhub to explain the error (once again being put on hold for very long), this month's bill arrives with the correct name, but everything else was wrong. We are being billed for some strange "transfer fee", overcharged for cable subscriptions, and my mobile phone bill was combined with our cable TV bill even though we did not ask them to do so. On top of that, our bill is not connected to the corresponding GIRO account anymore.
Can Starhub explain all these errors that they are making? What does an upgrade in information systems serve to do other than to make multiple errors in customers' bills? I am certain this is not an isolated incident; I am not the only one who faces this problem- my friends do too. The problems we face are different, but we all have one common gripe- the reply we get when we ask the customer service officers why we had to be put on hold for so long: "That is very short already. Some people have to wait one hour."
What kind of message is Starhub's customer service sending to their customers? I switched over to Starhub 5 years ago because their handset deals and price plans were more attractive. But all this hassle is not worth it; I am pretty sure that once my contract ends, I will not renew it once more.
