Fox casts Persons Unknown

Fox Television Studios has cast several top television stars in its new 13x60' series Persons Unknown, which begins production in Mexico on Monday. Mexican and Italian channels are attached.

Jason Wiles, who starred as Officer Maurice 'Bosco' Boscorelli in NBC's Third Watch, headlines the ensemble cast of six actors playing characters who wake up in a deserted town in the middle of nowhere with no memory of their previous lives or how they came to be there.

The studio's executive VP of programming, David Madden, described Wiles as having "an extraordinary mix of intensity, humour and fundamental male appeal." Other lead cast members include Tina Holmes (Six Feet Under), Sean O'Bryan (Vantage Point) and Lola Glaudini (Criminal Minds).

Fox TV Studios has also confirmed that Michael Rymer, director of the acclaimed Battlestar Galactica pilot, will direct the first episode of the new series.

Persons Unknown, which is executive produced by Oscar-winning writer Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects), was originally put into development 18 months ago for US cablenet Sci Fi. Fox's production partners on the series are Mexican group Televisa and Italian broadcaster Rai.

Pretty excited for this. The show should be pretty awesome, and I'm thrilled for the opportunity Jason is getting. I talked to him the other day and he was leaving for Mexico this past Tuesday and would be there until around April filming the 13 episodes. I read that 10 of the scripts are already complete so they're going into this ahead of the game.
