There is no joy in Mudville...

...mighty Torii has--er--grounded to short. About a dozen times.

Well, I've hardly wanted to say anything on here lately about the Twins, for fear of jinxing them (and because I've been slightly embarrassed about the extent to which my day-to-day happiness depends on how well they're swinging the bats). But this afternoon their season--and a phenomenal and also very fun season it was, as I must make myself remember--came to a rather grisly end.

I'm pretty bummed, but hey, at least they made it this far. Better than anyone expected back in May. I saw a headline tonight that described it as the magic running out for the Twins, and that's precisely what it felt like, since they've sure had some magic on their side the rest of the year. Maybe it will accumulate again by next year. Likely, I think, if most of these guys stick around--I love this year's team.

For now, somewhat ironically, I'm rooting for Detroit. As the old saw goes...
"Oh, you're a baseball fan? Who do you root for?"
"Who are the Yankees playing?"
