Danger, Will Robinson!

Amazingly, the first couple days of workshops have gone relatively well. Even the co-worker who managed to crush my very soul last Wednesday has been tolerable, even pleasant, and the annual reorganization of my room is going fairly well. (Though, as with every sorting or reorganizing task I've undertaken since the age of six, I have ADD like you wouldn't believe. Sometimes I have to walk myself back through several layers of tasks (and/or piles of crap) to figure out that, though I am currently standing on the countertop cleaning cobwebs from the ceiling, I originally crossed the room to get the masking tape to put up the cubby tags, which I happened across I was looking for something in which to put the outdated phone books to haul them away, because they were in my way while I was trying to sort through the posters, which I had to move so I had someplace to put the box of cot sheets.)
But I'm actually starting to get excited about the school year, in spite of the fact that mine might be delayed somewhat. Since we're in the process of building a new school directly behind our current one, they had to demolish a couple wings of our current building, and the child care rooms had to be moved. The new rooms weren't really prepared for child care occupancy (despite the fact that a Montessori school had been in them before--how they were licensed and legal I'll never know) so we have had to have some major renovations done, including cutting new doorways in a couple walls. Before we can have kids in the rooms, we have to have our licensor out to inspect them. Before we can have the licensor out, we have to finish the renovations (which, incidentally, were only started TWO DAYS AGO). We also failed the ventilation aspect of our health inspection--a particularly disconcerting fact because when I go out of my classroom, turn left, and walk about twenty paces, this
is what I see.

It's time to leave for my carcinogenic work now. Then tonight it's Oliver...again. Allen is coming to see the show tonight, despite all my warnings.
