Another Dreamwidth migration post

Dreamwidth sez: Because the owner/moderator of a community owns the community itself, but doesn't (usually) own the community's content (which is created by others and so is owned by the people who post it), [...] it's not going to happen by Open Beta, and there's no timetable for when it will happen. There are a lot of copyright and ownership issues to be resolved in a non-evil way before community importing can happen.
I knew I had a reason to be worried. So at best communities can start again here, but their archived posts would remain stuck on LJ. *woe* I've been wondering about upload/download communities -- seems like the sort of thing that would stay on LJ anyway; I have the feeling people want to be as good guests to Dreamwidth as Dreamwidth is good host to us.

Thus I am certainly not leaving LJ entirely. It is, however, no longer going to be my primary base of operations, because Dreamwidth is just plain better. Nearly everyone on my LJ flist has an account there now, so while I'm not defriending anybody, I am filtering my reading so I don't read the same posts in multiple places. If you have imported your journal to Dreamwidth, I am assuming that you're cross-posting. If you have imported your journal but are not cross-posting, or are posting different material in each journal, please tell me. I am cross-posting everything from Dreamwidth, so feel free to defriend me over on LJ if you read me here. I plan to eventually direct all comments to Dreamwidth, given that most of you guys have Dreamwidth accounts anyway*, but I'm holding off on that until the cross-post comment links are a little more advanced. Because on DWth things you wish were better actually do get better.

*If you don't have an invite and want one, I've got 'em.
