Lot of things go into making photographs for me... inspiration comes from such diverse sources and sometimes it's hard to channel them into an idea that will excite and entice the eye. For a while, I've been haunted by these dreams and thoughts all related to darkness and light and of course beauty...
Beauty is such an important part of my photographs, a beautiful face, a girl with wistful eyes.. I've never quite loved photographing models for it's hard to form a bond in such little time frame. I love photographing people I love... Lucia is a girl I love a lot. I liked the idea of her being a part of this because she is the sweetest girl I've known yet there is dark undercurrent to her that I find fascinating.
I love her immense eyes and rosebud lips and transforming that face with very dark, modern-gothic make-up was a real thrill for me. 6 different lipsticks went into creating that color that graces her pout and in my head, it still could be darker... I was very interested in that contrast when a thing of beauty becomes a thing of terror, half an angel, half a ghost...
Lucia truly embodies the dream and colors I had in my mind for this shoot... a graceful and virginal creature that has been slightly tainted with secrets and time yet still blooms in the shadows.
