What always amazes me is when I come in to work in the morning and they come running over for big bearhugs, even though I just saw them yesterday. Kids of this age miss you like crazy when you've been gone OVERNIGHT. It's so sweet!

I can't remember where I heard this, but kids experience time differently than adults do because of their development. Think of how long a day seemed to last, or a school year, when you were a kid. Now think how fast time goes by as an adult. This is not an illusion, it's because of our brain development. So, to a little kid, it feels like it HAS been a long time since they last saw you. :D

Kids are also just so full of energy and enthusiasm that seeing someone they like is a huge freakin' deal to them.

I miss that sense of enthusiasm in myself. Seeing someone you like should be a day-making treat; the kids have got it right!
