Me, to my son: Do you want to go see the Avengers movie this weekend?
Son: No.
Me: But the entire internet is going!
Son: Mom, Facebook is not the real internet.
Me, protesting: Well, it's not just Facebook, it's Livejournal! And Tumblr!
Son, lip curling in exquisite disgust: Tumblr!
Me, realizing my argument is not getting any stronger: Twitter, too!
Son: (rolls eyes)
Me: OK, so what do you think the "real internet" is, then?
Son: I think the internet is ... a series of tubes.
(We both start laughing)
Son: No.
