Since Friday was kind of a big emotional day and it was also kind of a busy week, I decided to withdraw yesterday and spent much of the day watching Coffee House/Page One which I adored up to the final ep, when it took a turn toward the WTF?
Things I loved:
♥ Kang Ji-Hwan. Now I'm going to watch everything he's ever been in. But seriously, he is just

I know what you mean about PSY's plastic surgery, but I still like her. I think she showed the right amount of vulnerability and spunk in the roll, and had great chemistry with KJW. I also wanted to FF through all of the scenes with the fiance, he really drove me nutso (and HATED the highlights in KJW's hair after the time jump!)
What about the last episode did you not like? Personally, I didn't like the fact that she agreed to marry that guy in the first place, but I guess it was a comfort thing. It seems like if you don't get married in Korea and you hit age 35 there's the assumption you'll never marry.

Nope, no way! Though he did seem to indicate some interest in her, it never really tipped over into romantic interest. But I think in cultures which prioritize m/f romantic relationships (especially older man/younger woman or good-looking actor/female idol) that reaction is not surprising.

I kind of agree and I always like her at first, but then I just get TIRED of her perfect skin and unwrinkled brow and implausible nose. She does have beautiful expressive eyes, and she clearly thinks about her roles and she was believable as a publishing executive. She just doesn't have any edges.

I actually found it believable that she would agree to marry the fiancé. She set them both tests--for the fiancé it was the 100 arranged dates (which made me laugh because it was the whole premise for another kdrama but just a throwaway here) and he passed the deadline before KJH's character got around to deciding to call her. SHe didn't seem like the type to break her own rules so she was kind of stuck (till KJH showed up to break them for her).
What I didn't like was the violence, that he had to beat up the rival publisher character so badly, and then he just got off for assault. It was pretty dreadful. Though it made sense in terms of his character (his really unlikable side & his simmering unpredictability combined with his underlying rationality) and also that he had to do something drastic and final to pry her away from the fiancé. But it shocked me and I found it hard to pay attention to anything after it. I was still mad at him and didn't think he deserved a happy ending. Does that make sense?

I didn't think PSY's character ever expected KJW's to come back. Didn't she even say that, maybe when she was sick in bed and he was nursing her? That if he'd ever given a hint he would return she would have waited for him? I think it was something like that. I guess what disappointed me about her decision to marry that guy was she was developed as a strong female, but rather than waiting for a guy who she would be happy with, she settled? But then, if she really DID go on 100 blind dates and found NO ONE better (hard to believe!) then...
I guess I'm used to some ridiculous violence in K-dramas, so him beating that guy didn't get to me. Though, I agree, why did he have to beat him so bad? Kind of like in "Best Love", why did CSW have to pummel that manager guy so badly? And then he just got off with blackmail or whatever? Stupid violence. I get what you're saying, I guess I just let it go b/c it could have been worse?

it wasn't romantic interest, exactly, but he kept noting that other guys were interested in her. Which at the time seemed almost like jealousy but as the drama went on it was clear it was more like amused disbelief. But I felt like he kind of enjoyed the tension--he didn't try to clear it up until she acted on it.
Yeah, I don't believe PSY's character really couldn't have found anyone better (though the one guy we saw didn't seem like a good prospect) , but she did have some kind of attachment to the fiance I guess, and he did manage to stand up against the writer character better. I definitely saw her as her thinking she'd made a deal and she had to stick by it--and that if he fulfilled her requirements, that maybe he'd changed for the better? I don't know. I mean, I think she wanted to get married, being a "strong female" and getting married/wanting to be married aren't necessarily exclusive.
Yes, the violence level in kdramas can be high. At least in Best Love you didn't see him do it.
