Comics and cookies

Random thoughts:

Kids always get the cooler superhero t-shirts designs. Not fair. I don't think kids even read comics these days; older teens and adults are the most common readers. I might be old and boring, but I don't want to dress old and boring. I like superheroes too. I want to wear the more interesting, colorful designs. I'm really tired of seeing the same boring two-tone logos. No matter where I look, I find dozens of these t-shirts and not the blue and grey 70s Batman t-shirt I'd dearly love.

Pretty sure the guy at the LCS I visited last week intentionally overcharged me for two books. The sticker price on each was 19.99, but my total at checkout was close to $50. I saw him peel off the stickers before manually entering in the price. I didn't say anything. /co/ is always going on about the struggling state of comics, the rewarding sense of pride in supporting the industry by being a regular patron of your LCS. I wanted to be a good fan and help out this LCS. But it wasn't satisfying when I knew I was being unapologetically ripped off. I can see why most fans don't care about supporting their hobby and pirate everything they read. I'll just buy my books off Amazon next time.

Turtle Cookies

1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup softened butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2.5 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup mini chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
15 unwrapped caramels, cut into chunks

Blend sugars, butter, vanilla extract, and eggs in a large bowl until the mixture is smooth.

Combine flour, salt, and baking soda in a separate bowl. Add this slowly to the sugar mixture until it reaches a sticky consistency.

Fold the mini chocolate chips and chopped pecans into the mixture.
Chill the cookie dough in the fridge for an hour.
Using a teaspoon as a measure, place rounded balls of dough onto baking sheet 2 inches apart.
Top with caramel chunks, 1-2 per cookie.

Preheat oven to 375 and bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove and let cool.

Apologies for terrible photo quality. They are much tastier than they look :)
