[Delta's starting to lose it again, slowly. He still visits the kitchen for food, but now seems to be much more shaky and unsteady. Today at dinner he's preoccupied with really struggling to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on the kitchen table. Shakiness isn't helping him spread the jelly on that bread.]

this is not a good time, yes im still a druggie

[ We regret to say that

a.) Bhamba doesn't stick around to read that text.

b.) Even if he did, he really couldn't care less about whether Delta is all right or not, because

c.) He only decided to come down because he was hungry and

d.) THERE HE IS! ]

There you are. You look awful. Again.

I've been better, but I'll live.

Did you make any progress yet?

[He sort of forgets what he's doing down here for a second. Oh, sandwich. He goes about finishing it.]

[ Yeeeeah, still not reading that. Grabbing the sandwich though. Yum. ]

How very thoughtful of you!

[ OMNOMNOM. Also talking while chewing now. There will be a bit of unintelligible mumbling before he's done with the first giant bite.

....

....

....

Sorry, we meant a lot of unintelligible mumbling.

OKAY, SWALLOW AND TRY AGAIN. ]

--mghhbll. [ GULP. ] What I was saying: I made some progress with your samples.

[Normally Delta would be a bit passive, but he's slightly out of it. He leans in and tries to snatch the sandwich right out of Bhamba's mouth.

The ADAM is causing this increase in aggression. He finds it hard to control his emotions like this.]

[ He doesn't really expect that, so the wonderful, wonderful sandwich is lost to him after just one delicious bite. ]

...

FINE.

[ Crossing arms. Sulking now. ]

[He pauses, holding the sandwich.]

I'm sorry. i could have tried to make you one if you wanted it. This one was supposed to be mine.

[The hell? Why did he grab it? He should have just let Bhamba have that sandwich. His heart sinks as he thinks about the cause for his actions.]

[He hands the sandwich back. He doesn't want it now that Bhamba's bitten into it. Delta's shakiness is obvious when he gives it over.]

What progress have you made?

[ Not looking at text. Not looking at sandwich. Especially not looking at Delta. Sulking some more. ]

[He pushes the sandwich a little closer, gesturing that he could have it. Delta then holds up his PDA closer to him and displays the same text.

Delta's getting frustrated. Again, it's the ADAM ruining his usually calm personality.]

[ SIGH. ]

I believe I have devised a way that will completely halt the effects of ADAM.

[ He takes the sandwich. ]

There are only two problems.

Problem one: When I say halt completely I mean completely. I'm not just talking about the physical and mental decay, I'm talking about any abilities you may have gained from it.

And problem two: The substance will halt the decay, not reverse it. Whatever damage is done, is done.

[ He surveys Delta, especially his shaking hands. ]

And that may be a lot.

[Delta sighs.]

Completely. you mean no plasmids.

What about using the other substance you devised to engineer them? the ADAM without side effects.

[His heart sinks at problem two. He knows how he can "reverse" the damage, but that means..

No, there has to be another way. Maybe Dr. Tam could do something.]

Didn't I say that already?

[ Grrrrimpatient. He did to somebody, possibly himself, but even so, it still counts. ]

ADAM is not like a breakfast cereal you can just switch and mix any way you want!

Any substance to replace it would have to stop the decay without triggering an averse reaction and mimic the positive effects without causing any negative ones itself.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I'm alone here and it would take me months, maybe even years to devise a formula like that.

[ And to be honest, given that Delta is the only one with that exact same problem he really isn't all that hot on making the effort either. ]

[He weighs his options through the haze of his mind. Once again he sighs. Delta should check up on Tam, but if nothing else comes up, he has no choice.]

Thank you. I'll think it through. i need to talk to Dr. Tam and see if he's found anything, himself. I'll get back to you.
