I genuinely had such a wonderful birthday.
Every year my birthday is a let down. This year, I was stressed all week, and it all turned out perfect. I felt truly loved.
At the stroke of midnight I was watching Bloody Phoenix play a house show in Oakland with Preston. He came up and we went to Warm Water Cove to take pictures before it got painted over and to stay for my birthday.
We went to WWC, went to Philz (my favorite coffee shop), then on to Oakland and watched a bunch of bands play, including In Disgust, Masacre, Weekend Nachos, and many more. I also saw a one armed dude, do windmills with the one arm he had, and punch a guy in the face, and throw a mic stand at the guy standing next to me, and talk about napalming all of the east bay. It was nuts. Then we went back to SF and stopped in a liquor store 5 minutes before closing, so I got us each a beer, then we went to Naan and Curryy. We came home and made stickers and drank our red stripe.
We woke up, made some more stickers, went to the mission to have burritos. Then went and did Food Not Bombs. Then about 16 kids showed up to my house. We ordered a bunch of pizzas and everyone had a 40z. I was showered in flowers, and balloons, and books, and cupcakes, and champagne, and giraffe stuffed animals!
Preston made me a mix tape and put in this handmade container with pins he made, and wrote such a nice message in it. I had to go into the other room to read it because it was so touching. I love that kid. His little girlfriend even made me an amazing card and got me the most RULING belt buckle, that looks like the 'Hello My Name Is' stickers. So amazing of her.
Then a carful of us went to Oakland to see my roommate and friend's bands first show. They sang me happy birthday. Then me and Snatch turned it into a dance party! There was even some dude in a trenchcoat that we got to dance to techno with us. Some guy came up and told me he liked my moves. It was pretty amazing.
I got a lot of phone calls from people I love who are in other places.
Really, aside from a few key people missing, it was perfect.
I couldn't ask for anything more.
