Yeah, so I definitely found out that one of the history minors (English major, history minor) reads fic and this led to a half-hour discussion (we got cut off by the start of class, heh) about DH -- HP fandomer, what an effing shock -- and its merits and failings as well as those for the entire series. Oh my, it really is nice to have people to ramble at who do not live lightyears away.

Not having the greatest time in my family life these days, if people have been wondering why I am more than a little quiet especially when I get home. But!

Since the start of this school year I have begun my involvement with Student Government, MMPAC (Mount Mary Programs and Activities Council, I believe), and Arches, the school newspaper. Student Government is something I could sit back a little on, since my role is tinier, but I think that's counterproductive -- which essentially means I'm volunteering for every event that fits into my schedule. Glory hallelujah

MMPAC -- basically the campus activities planning corps -- hasn't started up yet, we just got notice on some details, but there's one thing I want to do for my college in MMPAC, Student Government, and in any other way I can, before I leave. I want to make sure I've done as much as I can to help integrate this college's community and no longer have this noticeable rift between commuters and residents. There are lots more commuters than residents -- residents are less than half of our population, I know that for sure -- and yet the large majority of events are catered to the residents, who in fact are the ones who have the more flexible schedules especially in the evenings.

Good heavens. My teal deer, let me show you it.

I was doomed the minute I thought an idea up for a feature in Arches and was urged to come in and present it. I have an irrational fear of journalism and absolutely no experience, but after promises that I would get some aid in writing this stuff, I conceded, and now I've got two feature proposals to write and one article to work on.

Add all three of these together plus a full courseload and I'm sort of left going "What the hell am I doing?" but so far I haven't gone to pieces from the stress and my schedule seems balanced, so I should be okay.

Oh -- one last note. This is completely informal and totally for fun, but I intend to write the histories of various Christmas carols -- short little two page things I can put into an LJ post or something -- and I already have a small list of requests. (I know, wtf Christmas, but the choral singers will know what I'm talking about. I feel nothing weird at all singing about snow in August.) Any other requests? I was hoping for 25 to post from December 1 - 25, but that might be a little too ambitious.

Bah. It's morning and I'm rambling. I'm just posting this thing.
