so I don't really wake up this early these days.
And I definitely don't wake up this early on purpose unless it's for a very specific reason (say, maybe for example that I went out with the girls last night and they gave me a ride home, so I rode with my husband who is working early today to get my car . . . ) but I will say, once I'm up, it really is beautiful watching the sun come up over our town, especially with the fall air and all.
however, I'm not gonna lie, now that I enjoyed the moment, I'm going to slink back to bed. I don't have to work until 9.
(thinking of fall- our town does this cute town-y thing where people in the community, girl scout troops, families, garden club, etc, as well as most of the local businesses, have a scarecrow competition. People have a chance to pick up a little card at the community center that lists all the scarecrows in Cranford, and you can mark down which ones are your favorite. I'm not sure what the winner gets, probably something cute and appropriately autumnal.
The scarecrows go up all over town, lashed to lamp posts primarily, but also seated in chairs at tables at outdoor restaurants, tied to benches and whatnot. My favorite this year is called "halloween shake down" and it's a scarecrow of a witch holding the scarecrow of a brownie girl scout upside down by the feet, thus emptying the girlscout's pockets of cookies, etc., all over the sidewalk. It's clever. Drew likes the "scare scout" which is a creature made by what I expect to be a group of 8 year old boys, wearing a cub scout uniform, with a knife through his head and carrying a collection body parts that are paper bags with random organs drawn on them in marker in a clear plastic bag.
However, as we live on the main street, with plenty of lamp posts around, Drew and I consistently get the willies scared out of us as we come home in the evenings, as in the dim light it really looks like there are a bunch of creepy people all just loitering and leaning on the street lights by our door. )
