Today marks the end of hte third day of unemployment for me. One of the things tha I can definately say about this period of unemployment that is significantly different is that I'm not particularly worried about finding a new job. With the degree and the licensure, I now have the luxury of being able to cherry pick out from what jobs that I want, not the other way around. I've posted my resume up on career builder and have already had a couple of jobs contact me from there. There are also a couple of jobs that have come up and are recockulously sweet. One of which I interviewed for today. Basically they are looking for therapists to do in home family therapy, so I could do individual work with kids, or with kid and parent in tow. And the stupendous thing is that the pay is 60k-90k a year! That is insane salary for a msw grad. Hell that's insane for people established in my field. Most therapists are making something like low 40's if they are salaried. It's also based on direct service work, so I do sessions, then I charge it and then get paid. None of this kooky insurance bs.
It's a pretty sweet gig, but I need to interview with a couple more places to get a good feel for it. There's another job that is out there similar population, families and children, but instead of doing in home work, it's more of a traditional clinically based model. People come to you, and you therapize them and they leave. That salary is 50-60, so it's not so bad, and it's more of a salary, so you dont have to bust hump all of the time. A third option is for work in a community clinic doing therapy, but also doing assessment work. They way that it is described, makes it sound like it is more like the Urgent care sessions that I did previously at the crisis center.
I think that the last one would make for the lease amount of learning stretch since I've already done a lot of that previously, but if I wanted to be lazy, then I could go there and be relaxed, but not stimulated. The other two would be really challenging and give me a lot of experience. The benefit of the in home work is that I would be setting up my own personal business. I could then start to itemize and get my mileage reimbursed back from my taxes.
Anyhow off to some rest .
