This weekend, Paige and I went down to Boston to see Antony & the Johnsons. We'd been super worried about the drive down there, as Paige had never driven in Boston before, but it ended up going remarkably smooth...the smoothest Boston trip I've ever taken, actually. We got to see Shane and eat sushi during the day, which was lovely. The show itself was gorgeous...once he started singing, I was in a state of disbelief that any voice could actually sound so perfect. It was in th Berklee Performance Center, which is an awesome venue anyways; small, well arranged, totally built for sound. I got to hear "Fistful of Love", as well as "You Are My Sister" (Paige and I held each other close)...lots of stuff from the new album/ep...and a cover of the Beyonce song "Crazy in Love". Something that really surprised me was how sassy he was. Every interview I've seen, he always seems so serious, but he was really laying it on. All in all, fantastic.
And also fantastic...we got to stay at Keith's house that night. Unfortunately, by the time we got to his place, I'd been up for almost 24 hours and was super sleepy, and so was he, so we only got to spend an hour or so actually hanging out...but that hour was spent eating beet soup and drinking tea and talking about animals and evolution. I couldn't have asked for anything more.
Stopped off in Portland on the way home so Paige could see/smooch Cedar. We went out to eat and I got a delicious plate of home fries covered in cheese and salsa and veggies. And I got to see Coyle Street for the first time.
Other stuff...
Mark turned 29 on Thursday. We didn't get to do as much as I would've liked to because of our work schedules, but I got to take him out for Thai food, and I made him a ridiculous Smashing Pumpkins carrot cake. I also got him the Billy Idol cd Rebel Yell and danced around to the title track in my underwear as part of his gift.
I'm feeling a little flustered thinking about all the things I want to do before I move and how little time I have to do them and how much more money I wish I had and how much I'm going to miss it here. D'oh.
Mark's birthday cake.
And birthday curry!
Pre-walk around Boston.
I try not to be so fabulous when I walk but it really just can't be helped.
I was excited about those home fries.
Unfortunately, neither of the people sitting next to me came to Antony with me.
